Why afoto?"amoto... afoto... aradio... they are words, aren't they? XDD" Probably, if you are not from Spain you will not understand this joke :) (It's sort of the->teh and the like).
How do I install afoto? The installation process is very simple. Create a folder for it in your web server and unzip/untar the release into it, then copy your images, videos and audio to the Imagenes folder. That's all.
PHP will need permissions to write in the afoto folder to create the stats and thumbs folders. It will also need write permissions in those two folders.
What are the errors/warnings I see when loading the gallery? The most common reason is the folder permissions. Remember that PHP needs to create folders and files in the gallery directory
Also, it may be a missing GD library or register_globals being off (it should work anyway, though).
Where does afoto store its configuration? The configuration file is config.php. You can use the web interface to configure it by entering in the admin directory from your web browser. For security reasons, you can delete this directory if you don't wish to use the web interface.
What is global.inc in inc/template for?Anything you add to this file will be included in every skin. You can use it to add external counters or ads, no matter what the skin or language is.
Why are two directories created the first time you load the gallery? The thumbs and stats directories is where the thumbnails and statistics are stored. You can create them yourself, but make sure PHP can write and create files in them.
What is the thumbs directory for? May I change it?The thumbs directory is where the gallery stores the thumbnails it generates. You may change it to wherever you like by editing the config.php file, just make sure it's readable by PHP.
What is the stats directory for? May I change it?The stats directory is where the gallery stores the statistics it generates. You may change it to wherever you like by editing the config.php file, just make sure it's readable by PHP.
May I have a custom configuration for each theme?Yes. You can change the thumbnail size, language, or almost anything else by creating a config.php file inside the theme folder. You can see an example with the FGallery theme.
Does afoto work with register_globals=off?It should work. It does for me, at least! :).
